2008 in review

As 2008 comes to a close, I look forward to 2009. During this year I’ve bought a house, changed jobs, and watched my little girl transition from baby towards toddler. Her first steps and many other firsts. It snowed in Louisiana!
What a great year it has been! Even through times of trial, God has been faithful and has blessed me with a great family. Here’s hoping next year will be even better! To all who read this, Happy New Year!
Yard Work

I keep meaning to post put I put it off. Life gets busy and stressful and we just forget to slow down and take things in sometime. Michelle and I are enjoying the new house, we’re pretty settled, but there are still a few home improvement projects we want to work on. This weekend we might attempt to tackle the overgrown bushes in our front yard.
Eliana is cuter than ever. She just got over an unexpected case of pink eye which fortunately didn’t last too long, just a day or two of redness and a few more days of ointment on her eyes of some kind. She didn’t seem to fuss about it too much except when it was time for the medicine to be applied, and who could blame her for that.
Owning a home means I’ve been doing my fair share of yard work… something I loathed as a kid when my dad would try and get me off my lazy butt to help him. I guess the pride of ownership can be a little more motivating, and besides, I need the opportunity to get more exercise. Not that I have all that much to do, mowing my relatively small yard and a tiny bit of weed eating and then I am done.
Been reading a little lately… still trying to catch up on my relatively new favorite author, ted dekker. Just finished off Showdown which held my attention fairly well. Got one used in the mail called Blink of an Eye which sounded interesting to me but Michelle insists it looks like a romance novel, so I gave her the task of reading it first.
Not sure what else to write about now, so I’ll just post another picture of The Cuteness as I like to call her.
Quad Core

I was finally able to get a new PC for the family. Michelle needed something a little faster to help with her digital scrapbooking. I settled on a dell quad core machine. So far it seems pretty good, thought I think Michelle is experiencing some growing pains, having previously been on a mac for a while, and now having to adjust to some of Vista’s quirks. But I didn’t have the extra cash for a Mac, as this pc was only $500 after the discounts I found online. I sold some old stuff on eBay and was able to make the 500 and then some, so essentially it’s like I got a free upgrade.
I’ve actually liked selling old junk on eBay… probably because somewhere inside I hate to throw things away, telling myself "but it’s worth something." Well at least this way I get to realize some of that worth monetarily, and at the same time I am uncluttering myself. Michelle would probably say I’m still far too cluttered, and I am still a pack rat at times, but I am trying to get better about that.
Squealing Baby

Been a while since I’ve posted. All my posts seem to start out with such a statement. Eliana is as cute as ever. She’s recently started attempting to crawl, but so far her attempts are nothing more than scooting backwards on the floor like a crawfish. She is a moody individual. We love her dearly but she has this high pitched squeal that penetrates right to the spine. It is so annoying, but she doesn’t seem bothered by it.
We’ve started taking walks around the neighborhood in the evenings when we can… the weather is still relatively cool and Ellie seems to like riding in her stroller. Michelle and I tend to stay cooped up inside, so it is probably good for us to get out and have some exercise.
Probably no walk tonight. We’ll be watching the television like a large portion of Americans do this night of the week. We enjoy the show so much, but perhaps more fun is the karaoke game we play together. Eliana liked to watch us sing and Michelle’s competitive spirit comes out. I just like having fun and laughing together.
I’ve been twittering lately. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a website where you basically post a short sentence about what’s going on at that particular moment. It has also been called microblogging. You can view my twitter here. If you don’t get it, don’t worry about it. Michelle hates the idea.
